Nea Monemvasia Lakonia Peloponnisos

Nea Monemvasia (picture on the right), at the other end of the passage to the rock of Monemvasia, is one of the most developed areas in Laconia.

There are many modem hotels and other good-quality accommodation, restaurants and picturesque tavernas, shopping possibilities meeting all requirements and opportunities for every manner of recreation that a visitor might desire.

Every possible recreation in connection with the sea is available, at the beach of Monemvasia itself and further afield. Just in front of the village lies the small harbour of Mandraki, with a pebble-stone beach.

To the north lies the beach of Pera Kakavos and at a distance of 6 kim. that of Pori.

More beaches and hospitable coves can be found south of Monemvasia at the villages of Agia Paraskevi, Nomia, Agios Stefanos and the long beach of Xifias, 7 km from the town.

Inland, at an attitude of 340 m., you can visit Foutia with its lovely view, and further south, still on the eastern coast, Agios Fokas with its small bays.
