Platanias is the largest fishing village and faces the Aegean at the foot of the peninsula. Platanias is not just a fishing village it is also home to some of Pelion most stunning sandy beaches.
A short stroll from the village is the main beach, a long stretch of sand with a few pebbles. Follow a coastal path for a further ten minutes and one comes across the wonderful sight of the long sandy beach and crystal waters of Mikro beach.
In the summer months, Platanias harbour is used as a port for excursion boats to the nearby Sporades Islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonnisos.
Platanias provides a pleasant nightlife, with evenings spent in the waterside taverns which serve, amongst many other choices, a wonderful selection of the day's catch.
