Zagora
Overlooking the Aegean Sea, Zagora is Pelion's largest village and is renowned for its apples. Set in a charming position in vast green lands regarded as the centre of the woodland area in Pelion.
All houses are totally built in traditional style, most of them have wooden carved ornamental windows and doors.
The most attractive sights are Rigas school where Rigas Feraios was taught, the beautiful churches of Agia Paraskevi, Agios Georgios, Agia Kyriaki and Agios Nikolaos. Byzantine texts refer to the entire region of Pelion as Zagora.
Zagora offers a small selection of taverns and bars around the village square and is ideally positioned to visit the stunning beaches at Elitsa and Agioi Saranda (bottom picture on the right), in addition to the more cosmopolitan resort of Agios loannis.
